Copyright & DMCA Policy
Smoothcast respects the rights of copyright owners and responds to notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).
Designated agent & contact
Notices must be submitted with the form below. Email from Smoothcast comes from dmca@smoothcast.tv, which does not accept replies. Verified claimants receive private follow-up and arbitration contact instructions after a valid request is submitted.
How it works
- Verified request. Only verified users are able to file DMCA requests for enforcement.
- Review & takedown. Smoothcast staff review it and, if complete, promptly disable access to the video or clip. The streamer is notified in Studio.
- Counter-notice. If the streamer believes the removal was a mistake or misidentification, they can file a counter-notice from Studio. We forward it to the claimant.
- Restoration. Unless the claimant tells us they have filed a court action within 10–14 business days, the content may be restored.
Repeat infringers
Each upheld takedown adds a copyright strike to the channel, separate from community-guideline strikes. A channel reaching 3 active strikes is placed under account review and may be terminated. Strikes are removed when content is restored after a valid counter-notice.
Wrongful Takedown Terms
To discourage frivolous claims, every claimant must agree to these terms before submitting. If content is removed because of your notice and the claim is later found not to be legitimate (for example, it is withdrawn, rejected after a counter-notice, or no court action is filed within the restoration period), you agree: (a) to be liable for the affected streamer's estimated loss of revenue caused by the takedown, calculated from that channel's recent average earnings for the content over the removal period; (b) that you will not contest, and consent to entry of, a default judgment for that amount; and (c) that this is in addition to any damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).
Submit a takedown notice
Claims are accepted only from signed-in accounts with a verified email. The signed-in account holder is the accountable, liable party for the claim.
